Biography
Jennifer Clarke is Ireland's newest and hottest artist.
A graduate of the Music, Management and Sound course at Ireland's own Rock
School - Coláiste Stiofáin Naofa - Jennifer and her music have already been
met with critical acclaim and taken the airwaves by storm.
Her debut single 'Right Back At The Start', which was launched by
singer/songwriter Sinéad Lohan of 'A Woman's Heart' fame, was play-listed by
over twenty radio stations around the country and received rave reviews from
'Hot Press Magazine' and 'The Irish Examiner'. The single, recorded by
Ireland's most renowned producer Declan Sinnott, was co-written by Jennifer
and Chris Ahern. It immediately generated huge interest, resulting in her
playing Special Guest to Ronan Keating at the Marquee, Cork in 2005, at
'02 in the Park', Dublin and securing a national distribution deal with
RMG Chart Records where the single went straight to number 2 in the
Bestsellers Chart. Jennifer's second release 'It's Alright' outdid
its predecessor with airplay and was part of WLR FM's 'Power Play'.
2006 was a busy year for Jennifer having been signed to American music
impresario Mike Maska, whose roster includes the legendary Joe Jackson
and setting up her own record label JMC Music. Under this label she has
just finished working on her debut album with producer Bruce Brody
(Pulp Fiction, Maria McKee, Patti Smith, U2 Elevation Tour).
The eponymous album was recorded between Dublin and New York studios
and features the talents of guitarist Gus Isidore (Seal, Phil Lynott,
Peter Gabriel), bassist Nick Seymour (Crowded House) and drummer
Christian Eigner (Depeche Mode), as well as Jennifer's own piano and
guitar playing. It is a collection of self-penned and co-written songs,
which Jennifer describes as 'my take on the world!' and was mastered by
Sterling Sound, New York. She recently made her television debut on RTÉ's
Seoige and O'Shea, where she discussed the album with talk show hosts
Gráinne Seoige and Joe O'Shea and performed a song taken from it. The
album has already received a spate of media coverage in national
publications 'The Irish Examiner', 'The Irish Sun' and 'The Daily Mail'
and will be released in 2007.
Her influences come from a wide range of music including artists such as
James Taylor, Carole King, Joni Mitchell, Michael Jackson, George Michael,
Alison Krauss, Suzanne Vega, KT Tunstall, Sheryl Crow, Shawn Colvin and the
Dixie Chicks.
Jennifer is no stranger to the stage and has been performing regularly for
the past two years in venues such as The Lobby, Triskel Arts Centre, Cyprus
Avenue, Cork City Hall, the Galway Film Festival, the Hilfiger Sessions in
Crawdaddy, Dublin, the Marquee, '02 in the Park', Phoenix Park and The
Cutting Room, New York.
